BerBible is simplified Bible freeware that includes the complete ESV Bible (English Standard Version ©2001 by Good News and Crossway Publishers) and the NKJV Bible (New King James Version ©1982 from Thomas Nelson, Inc.) at no cost. The learning curve is all but trivial because only the most used functions are implemented:

lookup a specific verse (such as John 3:16)
find verses with one or more word (super-concordance)
Word/phrase searching is extremely fast, intuitive, and very flexible to find what you are looking for. On most computers, BerBible is running immediately after you launch it, and searching is FASTER than you can type.

The small, self-contained 1.9 meg ESV Starter Kit or NKJV Starter Kit downloads for Windows desktop PC's include the program, the specific Bible itself, and extensive help and documentation. Start program. Cursor is already in the Find-Input-Field.
If 'Tip of the Day' window appears, close it.
Type in acts 17.11 and press the Enter key
Type Scriptures and press the Enter key
Hover the mouse over the Luke 24:27 reference on the left to See This verse.
Click on the Romans 15:4 reference to see the chapter with the verse highlighted.
Click on the ?-mark in the upper left of the TitleBar and then click on the Find button to learn about that button.
